Here I am,

sniffling in bed, atop an antiseptic loft in a claustrophobic city. It is exactly as bad and sinister as I had worried it would be. There are no beggars, no filth, no pollution, no sound. The streets are neatly lined, with palm trees trapping humidity, one mall blending into another until the horizon stretches with massive testimonies to what man can do with concrete and money. There is no life, no spark, no vibe. A massive crowd of dead-eyed people amble through lit passageways and look at display windows, unenthusiastically and uninspiredly. It might be the mecca of all shoppers everywhere, but I will be damned if any designer could derive any inspiration whatsoever from this cosmetic urban nightmare.

I hate it here.

I walked home, taking detour after detour, hoping to find some redeeming factor. The wharf was a joke. I saw well dressed drunkards rifling through trashcans. Muted laughter, people looking bored.

I don't even want to think and compare this to Spain, or Italy... or no, I can't bear to mention my favourite city in the whole world.

What it's done is, it has made me suddenly see a certain charm in my own country. It may not be as safe, or convenient, or clean, but I would take that over this any damn day.

I am anxious to get out of this place and travel to Mexico, say or Peru, or Russia, to erase the memories of having come and lived here.

Hello, ummm, I'm not wise, and I'm not perticularly smart, but you know the saying, "when in Rome, do as the Romans do."? Well, that might not make much sence, but the way I look at it, is that if your surrounded be dull ugly thing, look at them in a diferent light! You see a long gray street with strangers curled up in corners, dull if not shattered window with strange shops and iffy owners, streetlights giving everything a morbid feeling, and garbage strewn amongst it all.
Others see anouther world, just open your mind abit. Remember how you saw it as a child. If your a desiner, desine what you see, and if what you see is what is really there, it'll be garbage, but if you can see the shapes and colours in different ways, then you have somthing, and if the colours are to bland there, take you clothing to someplace else, because whats dull there may be exotic in places like Mexico. Or Las Vegas.

Be more optomistic.

You have no idea how similar we feel. And today, I have no qualms admitting it to myself first, actually. The more I read, the more I get to know, that most bloggers are a lonely bunch. Well, maybe something better will emerge of the blog - something you can create for others rather than participate in something someone else has created for themselves. The niches, the clubs, the groups we all know they exist and they exist to separate. They exist because someone wanted it, for themselves and then they don't want some of us in them. I see this in an open public place like the park too. Strange!
